Full Professor of Entomology at the University of Brescia (Italy). He has almost 30 years of experience in the development of quantitative methodologies supporting decision making for population, epidemiological, ecological, and social-ecological systems management. Since 2009, Prof. Gilioli is scientific expert of the EFSA PLH Panel, actively involved in providing scientific advice on risks plant pests pose to the EU plants and plant products. He is Head of the Agrofood Research Hub.
Role in BeXyl Project: WorkPackage 7 Leader. Coordination of the integrated modelling framework to explore epidemiological and risk scenarios related to X. fastidiosa pathosystems and development of efficient and sustainable IPM schemes for the management of Xf.
Active participation: 1) Assessment of the best agronomic practices for the management of tolerant/resistant cultivars in infected areas, 2) Testing solutions for the management of vector populations, 3) Implementation of a network of plots for monitoring and demonstration of innovative tools for the management of Xf.
