Full Professor in Agricultural Entomology at the DISAFA department. Vector entomologist with more than 30 years of experience on vectors of bacteria (leafhoppers and spittlebugs vectors of phytoplasmas and Xylella fastidiosa) and viruses (whiteflies and mealybugs vectors of begomo- and ampelo-viruses). Coordinator of PhD in Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the University of Torino.
Role in BeXyl Project: Leader of Work Package 5: Environmentally and economically sound solutions for effective control of Xf vectors and disruption of Xf transmission. Main tasks are identification and characterization of viruses, entomopathogenic fungi and parasitoids of the spittlebug vectors.
