On the occasion of the last Xylella Files webinar of the year, on November 21 Leticia Lucero from CSIC-CNB (Madrid, Spain) will present the research “Exploring the toxicity of Rep-WH1 domains from Xylella fastidiosa plasmids”.

Plasmids are small molecules that are separated from chromosomal DNA and can replicate independently. They often carry genes that are important for the survival of the organism. Building on previous research into a plasmid replication protein that can damage the bacterium Escherichia coli, the researchers will present the results of using a similar mechanism to disrupt the functions of both E. coli and X. fastidiosa.

This novel molecular mechanism has never before been studied in Xylella.
