Video: Prototype for insect trapping device

The video shows the steps to set up black light traps to collect adult spittlebugs and estimate their Xf infection status.

Black light traps (UV-A spectrum) have been used to collect several insect species and their efficiency has been demonstrated for some spittlebugs.

BeXyl researchers will test the efficiency of light traps with omnidirectional coverage and slightly modified from the classical design to increase efficiency for Philaenus spumarius (Xf vector in Europe). Collected adults will be identified and analysed to estimate their infection status.
