The countdown for the 5th European Conference onXylella fastidiosa has started. EFSA officially announced that the event will be held in Bari, Italy, in June 2026. Registration and abstract submission will open in the second half of January 2026.

The conference will bring together researchers, risk assessors, policymakers, and economic operators to review the latest scientific evidence and response strategies against one of Europe’s most serious plant health threats, with a special focus on translating research outcomes into effective risk management and policy action.

Discussions will explore innovative tools and integrated approaches to control Xylella fastidiosa outbreaks in olive groves, vineyards, and almond orchards, as well as updated assessments of the risks posed by the bacterium and its insect vectors to agriculture, forestry, and natural ecosystems.

A key part of the programme will be dedicated to presenting results from the Horizon Europe BeXyl project, alongside findings from other international, European, and national research initiatives.

The event is organised in cooperation with major EU and transnational research networks, including BeXyl and EUPHRESCO III,and in partnership with institutions such as the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM IAM), the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection of Italy’s National Research Council (CNR IPSP), and the Apulia Regional Phytosanitary Service.

The scientific conference will take place in Bari, Italy, from 23 to 25 June 2026, with workshops, side events, and technical visits scheduled throughout the week from 22 to 26 June.
