After one year from the first identification of Xylella fastidiosa subsp. fastidiosa genotype ST1 in the Apulia region (Italy), the BeXyl partner CNR-IPSP Bari published the first complete genome sequences for two strains isolated from almond and grapevine.
This new genomic data represents the starting point for moving forward in the studies on the biology and epidemiology of this quarantine plant pathogen. This work, co-funded by the Phytosanitary Service of the Region of Apulia with the project GEMEFI, is part of a larger sequencing project, currently including more than 20 ST1-isolates maintained in the collection at CNR-IPSP.
Both sequenced strains were deposited at the INRAE Collection for Plant associated Bacteria and available to the scientific community.
