BeXyl short presentation tour

After the BeXyl Project kick-off meeting in Cordoba, the project leader Blanca Landa (IAS-CSIC) flew to Tunisia to attend the session on pest surveillance at the 13th Arab Conference of Plant Protection (https://acpp-aspp.com ), held in Hammamet on 16-21 October. The conference’s general topic was “Plant Health for a Secure and Safe Food”. Dr. Landa gave a presentation on “Early detection of emerging diseases: a focus on Xylella fastidiosa outbreaks in the Mediterranean basin”. After that, she presented the BeXyl project, offering the possibility of establishing collaborations.

The second stop of the mini tour to launch BeXyl was in Valencia, Spain, at the XX congress of the Spanish Society for plant health (https://vlcsef2022.com ), held on 24-26 October. The title of Dr. Landa’s presentation was “Main collective efforts among research groups contributed to answering key aspects for X. fastidiosa management at European level”, talking about the BeXyl project as the “last-but-not-least” example of those efforts.The third presentation of the BeXyl project occurred at an international olive workshop entitled ‘A new scenario for olive plant health: Pest control strategies and ecosystem services’, held on 9-10 November in Antequera, Málaga, Spain. Dr. Navas-Cortés, the leader of BeXyl research line on “New outbreaks risk assessment” gave a talk on the use of remote sensing for detecting biotic and abiotic stresses in olive including X. fastidiosa. After the speech, he presented the BeXyl project.
